Oasis / Mirage is a photobook that was produced during the spring Coronavirus lockdown. Stuck in the United States and unable to return to university in Germany, I was given the opportunity to engage with a landscape of memory and document changes within my family and environment. I was immersed in this town and family, simultaneously burdened by fragments and ideas from childhood and adolescence, things I had long left behind, and the realities of aging, dysfunction, and mortality. I wanted to evoke an idea of home that's in my head, somewhere, out of grasp. And I wanted to portray a mirage, something intangible yet powerful nonetheless.
